The Jokic Trio: Who are Nikola Jokic’s infamous brothers and what are they renowned for?

The Jokic brothers, famous for their constant presence at games supporting their younger brother and two-time MVP Nikola Jokic, have become a popular NBA family. However, little is known about the eldest brother Strahinja and the middle brother Nemanja. Let’s take a closer look at their lives.

Strahinja Jokic: From Basketball Inspiration to Sordid Past

The Jokic Brothers: Who They Are and What They're Known For

Born in 1982, Strahinja Jokic is the oldest of the three brothers. And shares a passion for basketball with his younger sibling Nikola. In fact, he is the one who inspired Nikola to pursue a career in the NBA. Standing at an impressive height of 6’8, Strahinja played basketball in Europe for most of his life. However, unlike his brother, he was not as talented in the sport, with his style of play similar to that of Kendrick Perkins, according to Nikola.

Nevertheless, he was known to be fiercely competitive, hated to lose, and always attended Nikola’s games, getting extremely animated on the sidelines. This passion and animated demeanor stem from their father, who was equally effervescent.

Strahinja’s passion for basketball has been marred by a sordid past. In 2019, he was arrested on suspicion of assault. He allegedly choked and pushed a woman in his apartment while under the influence of alcohol. He even prevented her from leaving and threatened to choke her until she fell asleep.

The woman used a computer to send a message for help. And the person she contacted called the police. Strahinja was charged with second-degree assault and two misdemeanors. But he ultimately pled guilty to obstruction of phone service and felony trespassing. He received a deferred sentence, and the criminal case was dismissed.

Nemanja Jokic, born in 1984, is the second-oldest of the three brothers and also played basketball. He is the shortest of the trio at 6’6. But he was the first successful basketball player among them.

He played Division I basketball at the University of Detroit Mercy and had a decent career, averaging 3.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.

Nemanja’s athletic prowess extends beyond basketball. He is also a professional MMA fighter with an undefeated record of 3-0, all of his wins being by knockout.

The Jokic brothers have earned a reputation as the most salient NBA family members in recent years, thanks to their unwavering support for their younger brother, Nikola. They may seem like your typical supportive siblings. But a closer look reveals that they are scintillating individuals with unique stories and achievements of their own.

From Strahinja’s role as Nikola’s inspiration to Nemanja’s successful career in both basketball and MMA, these brothers are more than just a backdrop to Nikola’s success. They are a testament to the Jokic family’s love for sports and a shining example of how talent and dedication can run in the family.
