“Blessed to be in this position”: Tyrese Haliburton accredits basic things in life for overcoming recent struggles

The Indiana Pacers’ star, Tyrese Haliburton, has been a valuable asset for his team this season. His scoring efficiency and ability to conduct a great offence have been remarkable, and due to that, he made his way to the All-Star team as a starter this season, making it his second appearance.

Tyrese Haliburton opens up about overcoming recent struggles

Haliburton recently went through a scoring slump that took a toll on both his team and himself, which made many fans doubt him as a star player. But with a win over the Los Angeles Clippers, the two-time all-star has redeemed himself from the slump and scored 21 points with 9 assists, shooting 7-12, where he connected 6 out of 9 shots from the deep.

After the match, he opened up about his struggles and how he got over them to the reporters and said, “I think at the end of the day, it’s just self-reflection, understanding where I am and all the things that I’ve done, I look around and just the basic thing of like my house. I grew up in a house that was barely 1,000 square feet. I’m blessed to be in this position, so just having a good use of that.”

According to Haliburton, his love for the sport has given him the motivation and strength to get over his struggles. He said, “I just have fun playing basketball, I think I’m at my best when it’s that way. When sh*t gets bad, I just gotta stay there. When I’m having fun, I feel like I’m at my best and our team is at our best. I think it comes from my pops.”

With a lot of pressure from all directions, Haliburton getting over his slump was necessary for the Pacers because playoff contention is tough and to win, the team needs everybody giving their 100% on the court to go ahead in the race.
