With his back facing the net, Alcaraz didn’t bother to turn around to see where Tommy Paul was. He slapped the ball from between his legs and it flew to the left of a perplexed Paul who responded by applauding and bowing to Carlos Alcaraz.

Carlos Alcaraz defeated Tommy Paul in straight sets in the match, and a following contest between Maria Sakkari and Caroline Wozniacki saw the Greek emerge victorious.
“I will take a picture to never forget this,” Alcaraz said after the match. “It has been a very special event, the truth is that I can only thank you for supporting tennis and me,” Alcaraz said.
The win caps off a season of incredible highs and disillusioning lows for Alcaraz as he will look to rework a few loopholes in his game plan and come back strong for the 2024 season, where he will look to win a third grand slam title at the Australian Open.
