Damian Lillard opens up on his unwavering Blazers loyalty despite another disappointing season

In the midst of a disappointing season for the Portland Trail Blazers, Damian Lillard, the superstar guard, has been facing questions about his future with the team. In a recent interview with The Dan Patrick Show, Lillard spoke about his unwavering loyalty to the Blazers despite the team’s struggles and his uncertain future.

When asked about loyalty, Lillard stated, “I just have a way that I want to get things done for myself…I just have my stance on what I want to see happen, but in this business, you just never know.” Lillard acknowledged that a team could decide it’s not working out and make a move, but he remains committed to his own goals and values.

Despite putting up impressive numbers, including a career-best 32.2 points per game this season, Lillard and the Blazers have fallen short of expectations, currently outside the playoff picture with a 32-44 record. The six times Western Conference Player of the Week winner confirmed that it was “not my decision at all” to sit out the remainder of the season due to a calf injury, suggesting that the team may have protected him from further injury.

This season’s disappointing outcome has created significant question marks for the Trail Blazers heading into the offseason. NBA fans have long desired to see Lillard on a contender, but the veteran has been hesitant to ask for a trade. Lillard recognizes that he will face criticism either way, stating, “I think you damned if you do, damned if you don’t. When things change, whether that’s in my control or not in my control, then I’ll move from there.”
