Orlando Magic’s G-League star Mac McClung made history at the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend. He set a new record by winning his third consecutive Slam Dunk Contest, becoming the first player ever to achieve a three-peat in the event’s history.
Mac McClung had a strong start in the dunk contest, jumping over a car and landing a reverse dunk. The crowd at the Chase Center cheered him on as he went for his second dunk, where he used two helpers—one on a hoverboard and the other on a ladder—to do a dual-ball trick.
Despite facing tough competition from San Antonio Spurs rookie Stephon Castle in the final round, McClung saved his best dunk for the last. McClung finished with a perfect score of 50 on his fourth dunk.

Mac McClung reflects on breaking dunk contest records
The dunk contest has had many legendary players like Dominique Wilkins, Vince Carter, Michael Jordan, and Nate Robinson. Mac McClung became the first player to win three dunk contests in a row since the event started in 1984. He also joined Nate Robinson as the only player to win three times.
Looking back at his big win on the NBA All-Star weekend, McClung shared his thoughts on the journey. The young star said, “When you feel like the crowd has your back, that gives you a different level of adrenaline, maybe confidence.”
Talking about his feelings, he shared, “It was great. It felt really good, and the judges gave me some good scores, so that got me feeling good. I really do like to play off the crowd.”
