Months after cheering for Russell Westbrook’s “steal” deal, Paul George opens up about extending his stay with Clippers

Paul George and Russell Westbrook are not only teammates, but great friends too. Their kids go to the same school and Westbrook and George often hang out together.

The two NBA stars used to play together for the Oklahoma City Thunder team until they got traded and separated. The trio of Westbrook, George and Carmelo Anthony had a big fan base as they were all in their prime and buzzing with potential. Now after a few rough seasons, Paul George and Russell Westbrook have been reunited once again in an LA clippers shirt.

Paul discusses potential contract extensions

Paul George is willing to extend his stay with the Los Angeles Clippers. Playoff P and the Los Angeles clippers are having active talks regarding his contract extension but they might not agree a on a deal soon.  Paul, when asked about his future with the Clippers, said, “It’s active, but both sides have to be on the same page and that’s just what we’re trying to figure out.”

The Duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George have failed to deliver what they had promised. They have not yet been able to win a championship and have not performed that good in the Playoffs too. They once blew a 3-1 lead to the Denver Nuggets, a shocking incident that earned them a lot of hate and criticism. Although Kawhi and Paul George make a powerful duo on pen and paper, they have not been able to live up to the hype. Both have suffered significant injuries as well limiting their abilities as players.

Still, it came as a little surprise that the Clippers wanted him back and Westbrook agreed on a two-year, $8 million deal to re-sign with them. It was a huge pay cut for Russ considering his previous salary and Paul George praised him for it while also explaining why it was important for the Clippers to get this deal done.

“Shoutout Russ. That’s a steal”, George said on Podcast P. “You get Russ at the minimum. That is a steal. Russ is doing so well off the court, that he’s not moved by money.”

Paul George was worried that Russ would not be happy with the pay cut and leave the Clippers but was surprised when Westbrook said he himself wanted to return. George said, “It’s dope, man. I’m happy to have Russ back, he means so much to the team. Just that small stint that he had with us, he changed the whole culture in that short of a time.”
