Rockets’ Alperen Sengun will get knee and ankle MRIs after his scary fall that left him wheelchair-bound

The Houston Rockets pulled off an impressive comeback victory on Sunday, defeating the Sacramento Kings on the road. Despite trailing by 13 points at one point, the Rockets picked themselves up to victory, making it one of their most significant wins of the season.

But the intense matchup led to a terrible injury for the Houston Rocket’s centre, Alperen Sengun. The incident led to many concerns about Sengun’s injury to the Rocket franchise and fans all over the world.

Alperen Sengun’s schedule for knee and ankle MRIs

Following the injury, a report by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN was issued about Sengun’s injury, saying that the Rocket’s centre will undergo an MRI scan on his ankle and both knees to determine the depth of the injury sustained during the fall.

The scans will determine the severity of the injury sustained by Sengun’s scary fall, which will help in assessing if there is ligament damage in the bone structure and further provide the proper course of treatment for him.

How did Alperen Sengun’s injury really occur?

In the final minute of the matchup against the Sacramento Kings, Sengun took a hard fall after he tried to contest a shot by Domantis Sabonis near the basket. The landing seemed awkward, and he grabbed his legs immediately and seemed to be in pain while he was lying on the court.

It was a scary fall that resulted in Sengun needing help from the staff to go backstage. They helped him get into a wheelchair and then took him off the court for further evaluation. The injury left an impact on both the Houston Rocket’s staff and the fans mentally.

Domantis Sabonis of the Sacramento Kings said, “I don’t know what happened, I don’t know what the reports are, but anytime you see someone come out in a wheelchair you know it’s definitely scary. Very young talent player and just I feel bad. No one wants to get hurt so I just wish him the best and a speedy recovery.”

The Rockets end up winning the match while keeping their hopes of making it to the play-in tournament alive, but with Sengun, who even surpassed Nikola Jokic last season by amassing 500 assists, out for an indefinite time, the franchise has to come up with a different team plan until the reports are out.

This season was going terrific for the young centre, as he was averaging his career-high 21.2 points with 5 assists and 9.4 rebounds per game and was a tough contender to win the Most-Improved Player Award this season.

Awaiting the results of the tests, both the fans and the Rocket’s franchise are hoping for positive news.
