Stephen Jackson, the former NBA athlete, has stirred up some controversy with his recent rankings of the best five players in the league right now.
While many would include LeBron James, who is still dominating at the age of 38, in his top 5, Jackson has excluded the Los Angeles Lakers superstar from his list.
Instead, he named Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Dončić, Joel Embiid, and Jayson Tatum as the players he considers to be the best in the league.
When questioned about why he left LeBron out of his Top 5, Jackson was quick to point out that he still views LeBron as one of the greatest of all time. However, he believes that at this point in time, LeBron is not playing at the level of the other players on his list.
Despite LeBron’s impressive stats, averaging 33.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, 8.0 assists, and 2.1 triples per game in January, Jackson believes there are others who are currently playing better.
Stephen Jackson doesn’t have LeBron James in his current Top 5:
“But right now in the league, he is not the Top 5 best player in the league right now.”

Stephen Jackson’s comment doesn’t take away anything from LeBron
It’s clear that Jackson’s rankings have sparked some debate and divided opinions among NBA fans and experts. While some may agree with Jackson’s assessment, others believe that LeBron’s longevity and continued dominance make him a top player in the league.
Regardless of where one falls on the debate, it’s clear that LeBron is still a force to be reckoned with and one of the greatest players in NBA history.
While Stephen Jackson may not include LeBron James in his Top 5 players in the league right now, it’s clear that he still holds the Lakers superstar in high regard. He acknowledges LeBron’s greatness and considers him one of the all-time greats, but believes that others are currently playing at a higher level.
Regardless of who makes the list, the NBA is filled with talented players and it’s always interesting to see who is considered the best by different experts and fans.
