“The pain we experience is indescribable” Rockets’ Alperen Sengun offers condolence to victims of devastating earthquake in Turkey

The Houston Rockets’ defeat against the Sacramento Kings on Monday caused another upset in the already troubled mind of the Rockets’ Turkish center Alperen Sengun.

As we all know, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake shattered the worlds of Turkey and Syria, killing at least 10,000 people. The world darkened as a result of the mourning and crying of destroyed families.

Following the sorrowful period, Alperen had to play at Toyota Center on Monday, and the burden has been reflected in his face.

What did Alperen Sengun say regarding the earthquake in Turkey?

The 20-year-old Turkish man had expressed his grief over the unthinkable loss in his homeland on Twitter. “The pain we experience is indescribable. My prayers, my heart is with our citizens who were affected by the earthquake in Kahramanmaraş,” Alperen tweeted.

“R.I.P. to those who lost their lives, I wish a speedy recovery to the injureds,” the Turkish League MVP concluded. “#PrayForTurkey”

Alperen gave one of his performances against the kings while carrying the weight of the devastated motherland. The center scored 15 points with seven rebounds and seven assists despite the rockets’ massive 120–140 loss.

Sengun joined the NBA from Besiktas basketball in 2021. Before that, he played three years in the Turkish Basketball Super League, starting in 2018. Sengun was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder as the 16th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft and later traded to the Houston Rockets.

Alongside the Rockets youngster, Philadelphia 76ers forward Furkan Korkmaz also shared his thoughts in a tweet. “I’m very sorry! The sad news is breaking our hearts, it hurts,” Furkan wrote in Turkish. “My heart is with my beautiful country.”

The Turkish Empire was a vibrant, spirit-filled nation that bridged European civilization and Muslim aristocracy. Every year, millions of tourists from all over the world visit this magnificent natural country with its full history and mesmerizing culture.

Like Alperen Sengun, our thoughts are with Turkey. We at SportsZion are praying to rescue them from such mortal peril.
