To help fix this, Adam Silver is working on growing the sport in Europe, but it will take time. In the meantime, Redick criticized the media for not celebrating the game the way they should do.

New Lakers head coach JJ Redick recently shared his thoughts on the downfall of NBA ratings. Despite the league being more talented than ever, with top players and teams, Redick is disappointed by how the media portrays the NBA.

He believes this negative coverage is a major factor in the drop in ratings, which remains a big concern for the league. Redick said, “I don’t think we have done a good job of storytelling, of celebrating the game, If I’m a casual fan and you tell me every time I turn on the television that the product sucks, well, I’m not going to watch the product.”

He added, “This game should be celebrated, The league is more talented and skilled than it was 18 years ago when I was drafted. That’s a fact.”

Shaquille O’Neal blames Stephen Curry for NBA rating drop

Shaquille O’Neal has voiced his opinion on the recent decline in NBA ratings, pointing the finger at Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors’ influence on the game. On his podcast, “The Big Podcast,” O’Neal said that too much focus on three-point shots has made the game less exciting.

He explained, “This new era of humans f–ked it up… Everybody wants to be Steph Curry, but everybody’s not Steph Curry and that’s why viewership is down. But these dudes, they need to wake up because if viewership is down, the money is gonna come down”
