Pistons is tied with 76ers for NBA’s all-time consecutive losses
The Detroit Pistons find themselves on the extreme of unwanted NBA history, locked in a daunting streak of 28 consecutive losses, a feat now shared with the infamous “Trust the Process” Philadelphia 76ers.
The recent setback which spoke of a valiant but ultimately unsuccessful effort against the Boston Celtics, saw the Pistons squander a 21-point lead, which eventually forced them to overtime, only to end up in a 128-122 defeat.
An interesting fact, though: only a victory against the Toronto Raptors stands between them and the dubious distinction of being the sole owner of the NBA’s longest losing streak.
However, the Pistons’ guard, Cade Cunningham, provides us with a different mindset; despite scoring 22 points in the first half and understanding the gravity of the situation, he articulates a desire for more than just winning and breaking a streak, rather he strives for the team’s commitment to finding sustained success.
“I’m not interested in just winning one more game this year—you know what I mean? To stop this. That would be soft, in my opinion. Our goals are a lot higher than that. We have what it takes to win a game, that’s nothing. But to put games together, to find our system, find what’s clicking and allow us to sustain winning. That’s all we’re looking for.”
