5 Changes Dallas Mavericks Need to make to avoid getting swept by the warriors from the West Finals

Dallas Mavericks is now at verge of ending their season as the Mavs are trailing the Warriors by 0-3, following the defeat in game 3 of this series on Sunday night in the Western Conference Finals. Nothing is going right for the Mavs at this point as they are suffering a lot to stop the Warriors.

Mavs star Luka Doncic is playing spectacularly but it seems that the Mavs are just falling behind by the talent gape of the two teams. GSW just has more overall talent and more experience than Dallas has, this is definitely the case why they are dominating the series in every aspect.

The Warriors are outscoring the Mavs in the paint and breaking down Dallas’ defense, leaving the Mavericks with really no answers how they’ll turn in this short period of time. They are leaving no stone unturned to stop the Warriors but seems that stones are turning back to them.

With a 3-0 lead in any playoff series, no teams ever wiped out as of now which is a record of 146-0 all-time in NBA Playoff history. The stats may upset the Dallas fanbase, but reality is always different and the Mavs fanbase may still hope as there is hope, forgetting all the records. For that they have to make record and definitely not with the same strategy which went wrong in every way against the warriors for the last three games in a row.

Let’s have a look at the 5 possible ways that may keep the hope for the Mavs to be alive in the series:

1. Remodeling the Sloppy Defense

The defense created by Andrew Wiggins, Kevon Looney and Jordan Poole for the Warriors have been spectacular in the playoffs for Golden State and each of them have played their roles perfectly against the Mavericks in this series.

Compared to this defense lineup of the Warriors, the Mavs didn’t show up anything special to for stopping the other trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, who are continuously snatching the game away from the Mavs.

To stop the warriors in game-4, Dallas has definitely gotta do something to their defense to stop the Warriors, specially from the rebounds.

2. Forming Attacking Squad

Though the Mavs got the gem Luka Doncic who is spectacularly playing in the playoffs games, scoring an average of 30+ throughout all the final games, but that alone is never enough to stop an entire opponent, that too like Golden State warriors, the six time finalists of last eight season.

Dallas must learn from the Warriors in the game, how their attacking trio combined with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green winning the game fading away the alone Luka Doncic. Definitely Luka has already established his name as a great player of the NBA, but he definitely lacks appropriate teammates to win the game. Golden State are basically guarding that one man Doncic, which is clear by coach Steve Kerr said.

“You don’t win in the playoffs without guys like Wiggs,” “We’re basically mirroring Doncic’s minutes so that Wiggs can stay on him.”

The Mavs should utilize this chance by deploying the other attacking guns while the Warriors will be busy guarding Doncic.

3. Stop Giving Rebounds

Starting from game-1, the Mavs are giving plenty of rebounds to the Warriors. C’mon you don’t give so much option to score specially in a Conference Final match against a many time champion team like Golden State warriors. You need to be more serious on guarding the attacks as well as increase the success rate of the attacks.

To invade the defense trio of the Dubs the Mavs should have the appropriate guns, that we expect Kidd will use in the upcoming game-4.

4. work harder on the glass

Mavericks center Dwight Powell stands an inch taller than Golden State big Kevon Looney. But Kidd took only eight minutes to make the 30-year old in the game. Not being able to tackle the rebounds which ended in successful scoring for the Warriors, Kidd probably realized the thing as he jokes on Monday that

“our smalls right now are hanging from a pole trying to stretch and get taller.” “We’ve got to be more aggressive,” Kidd said. “We’ve got to be physical. We’re small, but we’ve got to be able to team rebound. It’s gonna take all five.”

Indeed you should take on the height with the skills to stop the deadly attack trio of the Golden State, otherwise you cannot get many from only scoring which shall eventually be outscored without proper stops.

5. Team Play is a Must

Everything discussed up to the above four points is nothing more than a team combination and team work. Golden State is the sheer example of team play where their team play outscored the Mavericks star stats.  Luka Doncic scoring a 40 point and losing a game is the highest number of these kind of incident which is for a third time happened in the game-3.

Hopefully Jason Kidd understand this and comes up with a solution for the Mavericks fans before game-4 tonight.
