Aaron Rodgers trade talks take a turn as Packers reportedly back down on major demand in negotiations with Jets

The NFL legend Aaron Rodgers trade saga seems to stretch further as both the Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets are yet to make a decisive call.

Earlier A-Rod revealed his intention to leave the Packers team and join the Jets squad this season after returning from a darkness retreat. The Packers are also fully prepared to pave the way for the young QB Love Jordan in exchange for Aaron as the team sought the Jets’ first-round pick for 2023 along with a second-round pick.

The Jets added wide receiver Allen Lazard and Mecole Hardman to their roster in this free agency period, and the addition of Aaron is going to boost up their offense even more.

While speaking to the media at the annual team, the Jets owner Woody Johnson expressed his impatience and optimism to finalize the contract.

“We’re anxious, I guess. We look forward. We’re optimistic. We have a plan. We’re willing to stick with our plan and I don’t think anybody is hyperventilating”, Woody stated.

What did Mike Florio reveal regarding the trade of Aaron Rodgers?

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, the popular NFL insider Mike Florio revealed the Packers were initially determined to keep their veteran QB Aaron Rodgers in the squad, however, later might have made a major concession to the four-time MVP off their books as the Packers has backed off from wanting the Jets first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft as part of the package.

“The holdup was because the Packers were adamant on getting the 13th overall pick in this year’s draft. I think they backed away from that. The GM of the Packers said we’re not necessarily going to get a first-round pick, that to me was a major concession acknowledging they’re no longer demanding 13th overall in 2023”, Florio stated.

The NFL insider further disclosed the Packers might end up getting their quarterback.

“I think they’re going to get a second-round pick from the Jets this year. A second-round pick next year that can become a first-round pick, depending upon what the Jets do with Aaron Rodgers this year”, he added.

Of course, nothing is set in stone at this point, and there are sure to be further twists and turns in this ongoing drama.

With the draft just a few weeks away, it will be interesting to see how this situation unfolds and whether Rodgers will ultimately end up wearing a different uniform next season.
