“Actually higher than 66”: Spencer Reaves reflects on Lakers star Austin Reaves’ disappointment over ESPN 100 placement

Austin Reaves, the Los Angeles Lakers Shooting Guard has shown insane improvement over a short period of time. The young player is full of potential and is super talented. He is a great mid-range as well as three-point shooter.

Reaves broke out last season for the Lakers and established himself as the third best player in the Lakers squad. Many fans believe that he is a future All-Star while some think of him as overrated. Heading on to the new season, Austin Reaves received a low rank by ESPN in their annual preseason players ranking.

Lakers star dissatisfied with ESPN 100 ranking

Lakers Star Austin Reaves has been ranked 66th on the ESPN 100, the list of 100 best players in the NBA. Although Austin has not commented about his ranking publicly, his elder brother Spencer Reaves revealed that Austin is probably upset about his ranking but won’t say anything publicly.

Previously Reaves had insisted that he will be coming back stronger this season. The young shooting guard is ready to prove his doubters wrong and his words echoed just that.

“That hunger is for sure still there. I think that underdog chip, for me, it’ll never go away, regardless of how high it goes. I genuinely believe that — there’s always people who doubt but — there’s a majority of people who still doubt what I’m doing. I think a lot of people think it’s maybe situations that occur and then go away.”, Reaves had said.

Growing up, Reaves had his fair share of doubters, and it was them who motivated him to work hard and make it to the NBA. Back when Reaves’ agent asked him about his motivation of playing in the NBA , he got a simple but noteworthy reply.

“I looked him in his eyes,” Reaves said. “And I was like, ‘To tell everybody to f— off.’ My whole life, I’ve been too skinny. Not athletic enough. At one point I wasn’t skilled enough. Everybody found excuses for me not to. It was always, ‘We’re gonna find something about him that he can’t do good enough to make it.’ Yeah, so it was a good feeling to just tell everyone to f— off.”

Reaves seems to have the hunger of getting better and improving his game. Fans would love to see him performing well and solidifying his position as the 3rd best player for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Wizards star disagrees with rankings for Russell Westbrook, Jordan Poole

Wizards star Kyle Kuzma disagreed with ESPN’S list of top 100 players just like many. Kuzma commented saying that ESPN must have been smoking something when they came up with the list.

Kuzma feels that Russell Westbrook and Jordan Poole have not been ranked correctly. Russ has been ranked 94 while Jordan Poole’s ranking had dropped to 72 from 55 last year. Kyle Kuzma found these rankings to be ridiculously inaccurate.
