A Barcelona player allegedly sent a message to their group chat saying that the collapse of the Mbappe to Real Madrid transfer is almost like winning a title.
Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid seemed like the inevitable transfer waiting to happen. Whilst many Madrid fans were counting days for the announcement, the announcement they got was not the one they wanted. The 2018 World Cup Golden Boy extended his contract with the Parisians till 2025.
As per reports, the extension comes with a lot of stipulations. This extension has shocked people around the world as they were not expecting such a U-turn. Mbappe has informed everyone of his admiration for Real Madrid, in recent years, so a contract extension at this point caught everyone off guard.
One camp where there was shock and relief is the Barcelona camp. Barcelona have been on a revival of late. Real Madrid’s arch-nemesis has been very active in the transfer window, and have had some shrewd recruitments. they finished the season in second place, and will be looking to challenge Madrid’s crown next season.
The collapse of the transfer should only give Barcelona more hope. The trio of Benzema, Vinicius Jr., and Mbappe would have surely led Los Blancos to another league title. Apparently a player in the Barcelona camp said this failed is almost as good as winning the title.
