Former Lakers Star Compares LeBron James to Black Captain America

LeBron James is a living legend and the only true NBA icon in the current era of basketball. At 40 years old, the way he continues to make records and lead the LA Lakers on a championship run is simply outstanding.

Throughout his career, many people have called him different names because of his greatness. Some even call him the GOAT of the NBA. Meanwhile, former Lakers guard Patrick Beverley gave him a unique title—“Black Captain America.”

The powerful and emotional statement came during a talk about LeBron James’ impact both on the court and in the real world. The conversation also touched on LeBron’s recent clash with ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith.

Reflecting on Smith’s comments, Patrick Beverley didn’t hold back. He made it clear—Smith got it wrong about LeBron.

“He (Stephen A.) was saying s**t that was wrong. He’s the Black Captain America, bro,” Beverley said. “He is literally the Black Captain America. He’s probably the most powerful African-American alive. Besides Barack Obama.”

LeBron James injury report

The Lakers are doing well this season. They are in 3rd place in the Western Conference with 48 wins and 30 losses. Only four games are left before the playoffs, so they need to keep their spot to get a good place in the playoff rankings.

Before their next game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Lakers shared their injury update. LeBron James is listed as “probable” because of a groin injury that has been bothering him all season. The game will be on April 8, 2025. The next night, they will play again against the Dallas Mavericks.

Even with his injury, LeBron played great in their last game against the Thunder. He scored 19 points and gave 7 assists. But the team wants to be careful. Considering his age, they want him to stay healthy for the playoffs.
