Basketball trainer Rob McClanaghan’s rape arrest stuns basketball fans

Rob McClanaghan is a popular NBA trainer who had some of the league’s biggest stars as clients. Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and Kevin Love are among the few athletes he personally coached. Rob’s son used to play college football on a regular basis, and Kevin Love assisted him by launching him into the NBA.

Rob is no longer associated with the Boston Celtics, according to a statement the franchise released to wcvb.com. At Bishop Hendricken High School, the fugitive reportedly collaborated with Celtics interim head coach Joe Mazzulla.

In an unexpected turn of events, McClanaghan tangled himself in a heinous crime. The trainer was detained in Rhode Island on suspicion of rape and drug possession. At the Third District Court in Kent County, Rhode Island, McClanaghan is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday. As a wanted felon, he will face charges.

As reported by Syracuse.com, McClanaghan was arrested in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, on Friday. On Thursday, a warrant for his arrest was issued in Boston Municipal Court for crimes committed in Boston. “The incident allegedly took place in a Boston hotel. The Boston Police Sexual Assault Unit and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office issued the warrant after investigating the incident,” Mike Waters of Syracuse.com reported.

Police issued a warning to the public about the risks of date-rape medications being put in the drinks of unknowing victims after McClanaghan was taken into custody. According to the police, GHB or ketamine, as well as the substance known as roofie, Rohypnol, are frequently utilized by drug users.

“These drugs and substances can cause disorientation, confusion, temporary paralysis, or unconsciousness, along with a host of other symptoms, leaving the potential victim vulnerable to the intentions of the suspect,” police said.
