Charles Barkley, known as “Sir Charles,” was one of the best power forwards in the NBA during the 80s and 90s. At 6’6″ and 252 pounds, he was great at scoring, rebounding, and defending. The 11-time All-Star believes that today’s NBA stars, like Draymond Green and Anthony Davis, wouldn’t handle the toughness of the 90s.
Charles Barkley recently faced the question of whether players from his era could compete in today’s skilled NBA on ‘The Mark Jackson Show’. Instead, he flipped the question, mentioning Anthony Edwards and Draymond Green.
Barkley reflected on the physical toughness of the 80s, with lengthy screens and intense contact, and said players like Green and Edwards might struggle with that rougher style. Charles Barkley addressed AD and Green as good players, but their style wouldn’t handle the tough, physical play of his era.
The 61-year-old said, “Anthony Edwards is a really good player. But I would love to have him chase Reggie Miller around all those picks and hit by a serious pick. These guys, they don’t want that physicality. Draymond Green is a really good player. They better not put that little man up against me and Karl Malone, we’re gonna kill him.”
