WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event made history this past weekend. Not only was the show’s return exciting, but it was also brimming with surprises. One of the biggest moments was the introduction of the first-ever WWE Women’s United States Championship, and the winner was none other than Chelsea Green.
Chelsea Green made history as the first-ever WWE Women’s United States Champion and is also a former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion. Winning the title is a huge achievement for her.
After her victory, she spoke with Byron Saxton in a WWE video shared on social media. Green confidently said, “Well, Brian, I always knew this was going to happen, so I know you’re surprised, and that’s so cute, but I’m not. I’ve been doing this for ten years. I worked my entire life to be an overnight success, and this is my time. This is my night, red, white, and Green.”
When asked about making history, she added, “I would say, ‘Duh’. I’m in the history books where I belong. I should have been there three years ago, but I was released. I should have been there in 2015, but I wasn’t hired. So now is the time. Now is the freaking time!”

Chelsea Green became the first US Champion, which made her husband, Matt Cardona, very proud. It was an exciting moment for her and Matt, who had just won the US Championship in the WWE.
As a couple, they were the first husband and wife to both hold the WWE US Championship. Matt shared his pride on Twitter, calling them a “history-making couple.”
