Cowboys LB Micah Parsons defends Saquon Barkley urging Giants to pay him

Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons has come to the defense of New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley, shading the Giants amid Barkley’s contract issues with the team.

The Giants placed a franchise tag on Barkley in March after finalizing a long-term deal with the QB Daniel Jones and the RB has opted not to sign a franchise tag with the franchise which would pay him just over $10 million guaranteed during the 2023 season.

According to Connor Hughes of SNY, the veteran RB was offered a deal worth more than $12.5 million annually alongside another offer by the Giants, albeit he turned down both offers.

“There was a contract offer on the table with a Giants letterhead for Saquon Barkley to sign during the bye week that would have paid him $12.5 million annually. There was another, for a smidge more, pushed across after the season ended. Barkley turned down both. And now, the table is bare”, Hughes cited.

A Twitter user, @WBG84, said Saquon Barkley was “wearing down” over the previous season, mentioning his decline in rushing yards in the second half of the year and urging the Giants team to not give him a long-term offer.

Parsons, a looming threat both in the pass rush and on social media, didn’t halt back to come to the defense of the New York Giants running back and spoke highly of Barkley’s talent and athleticism by retweeting the statement with a comment, claiming him the best player on the team.

“I mean yeah that’s what happens when you the best players on your team you idiot!!” he said.

The Cowboys LB later urged the Giants to pay him according to his worth.

“The scheme on Monday morning is we well not let SAQUON BARKLEY BEAT Us!! People just think we be out here playing free for all!! like gtfo! That mf is that offense! Pay him!”, he tweeted.

Saquon had to fight with injuries throughout his career, albeit he bounced back on the national scene with an incredible performance of amassing 1,650 yards and 10 touchdowns last year for the Giants, leading them to win a playoff game for the first time in 11 seasons.

As fans eagerly await updates on Barkley’s contract situation, Parsons’ defense of the star running back has added a new layer of intrigue to the ongoing saga.

The football community will be keeping a close eye on the situation as it develops, eagerly anticipating the resolution of Barkley’s contract negotiations and the outcome of his future with the Giants.
