Dallas Cowboys replaces Brian Schottenheimer in place of Kellen Moore as offensive coordinator

The Dallas Cowboys have made an important shift in their offensive staff, with Brian Schottenheimer taking over the role of offensive coordinator from Kellen Moore. The Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy spoke highly of Schottenheimer, noting thathe has been an important part of our staff already and has a great grasp of where we are and where we want to go“.

Schottenheimer has a long history of experience in the NFL, having served as the offensive coordinator for the New York Jets (20062011), St. Louis Rams (20122014), University of Georgia (2015) and Seattle Seahawks (20182020). Before joining the Cowboys staff, Schottenheimer was tapped as the Jacksonville Jaguars passing game coordinator under head coach Urban Meyer.

McCarthy is confident that the transition of Schottenheimer taking over the role will beexciting and efficient“, and that it willhelp yield the growth and results we all want and expect“.

Despite Schottenheimer taking on the role, however, the responsibility of calling plays will remain with McCarthy. Owner Jerry Jones stated that this is abuilding step for the Cowboys and that this move isthe logical step to build on it and use what we‘ve established“.

This is not the first time McCarthy has called plays for a team. During his time as head coach of the Green Bay Packers (200618), McCarthy was in charge of calling plays. The last time the Cowboys had the head coach calling the plays was when Jason Garrett gave up the role after the 2012 season.

The Dallas Cowboys have made an important move in their offensive staff, bringing Brian Schottenheimer on board as the new offensive coordinator. With this move, McCarthy will remain in charge of calling plays, something he has done before during his time as head coach of the Green Bay Packers. Schottenheimer brings with him a wealth of experience, having served as the offensive coordinator for multiple teams in the past.

Owner Jerry Jones believes that this move isthe logical step to build on it and use what we‘ve established“, and Mike McCarthy is confident that the transition willhelp yield the growth and results we all want and expect“.
