Erling Haaland subtly shades Trent Alexander-Arnold’s claim
The rivalry between Manchester City and Liverpool has intensified once again as words were being exchanged recently by Trent and Haaland just before the encounter this weekend. Haaland took a subtle jab at Liverpool’s Trent when he commented on the importance of acquiring the Premier League for Liverpool this season.
Recently, Trent, in an interview with FourFourTwo, shared his thoughts on the title race this season. He shed light on the fact that the trophy meant “more to them” and their fan base based on the “situation of both clubs financially.” In response to this, Haaland made a cheeky comment over Trent’s claim, which made headlines.
As per the FourFourTwo, Haaland was directly asked his opinion over Trent’s claim, to which he responded, “If he wants to say that, ok.” Adding to that, he said, “I’ve been here one year and I won the treble and that was quite a nice feeling. I don’t think he knows exactly this feeling. That’s what I felt last season and it was quite nice.”
Apart from Haaland, Ruben Dias was also asked his opinion over Trent’s claim, to which he said, “ We’ve won a lot in this club, especially last year with the Treble. I think it’s pretty certain between us, between our fans, how much it meant to all of us.”

During the interview with FourFourTwo, Trent was asked by the interviewer about his opinion over the title race he said, “Looking back on this era, although they’ve won more titles than us and have probably been more successful, our trophies will mean more to us and our fanbase because of the situations at both clubs, financially.”
Trent further said, “How both clubs have built their teams and the manner in which we’ve done it, probably means more to our fans.” This little banter has been a part of the game and the fans certainly enjoyed it as City and Liverpool have been the only teams battling for the title in recent years.
The league leaders, Liverpool, will go on to face Manchester City this weekend, who sits second at the table with just one point difference and a game in hand. But before the fight for first place on Sunday, Liverpool will be facing Sparta Prague in the Europa League last 16.
