“Everything happens for a reason” Cameron Johnson bids farewell to Suns following trade to Nets in exchange for Kevin Durant

The Phoenix Suns made a stunning trade on Thursday morning, acquiring Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for a package of draft picks, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, and Mikal Bridges. This move sent shockwaves through the NBA and sparked excitement among fans.

Cam Johnson was drafted by the Suns in 2019 and had only known the Phoenix franchise during his short three-and-a-half-year career in the NBA. On Friday afternoon, he took to Instagram to express his emotions about the trade, saying, “My feelings over the past few days have been hard to put into words. Everything happens for a reason, all part of His plan… I am beyond grateful.”

Johnson went on to thank the Suns’ organization, the city of Phoenix, his coaches, teammates, family, and friends for their support. He acknowledged the special connection he had formed with the people of Phoenix and promised that the city will always have a special place in his heart.

Johnson is now set to join Bridges in Brooklyn, and from his message, it seems that he’s looking forward to this new chapter in his career. While he may not have the star power of Durant, Johnson has proven himself to be a valuable role player, averaging 10.7 points per game while shooting nearly 40% from beyond the arc.

In Brooklyn, Johnson will bring much-needed shooting and depth to the team. He’ll be making his mark in the Big Apple and will be hoping to continue his success on the court. As he says in his message, “Broooooklynnnn, I am excited about this new adventure. LET’S HOOP.”

So, as we say goodbye to Johnson in Phoenix and wish him the best of luck in Brooklyn, we reflect on the journey that led him to this point. From his time in college to being drafted by the Suns, to becoming a valuable role player, Johnson has come a long way. And as he sets off on this new adventure, we can’t wait to see what he’ll accomplish next.
