Ex-NFL QB hits Tom Brady with ‘Bullying Josh McDaniels’ allegation after Derek Carr’s trade to Saints

According to former NFL quarterback David Carr, the working relationship between Tom Brady and his former offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniels, was not a good match. Carr has accused Brady of bullying McDaniels during their time together in New England. McDaniels is now the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.

In a recent interview on the “Harvester Sports” podcast, NFL Network analyst David Carr shed some light on why things didn’t work out between Derek Carr and Josh McDaniels during McDaniels’ first year with the Las Vegas Raiders.

While Derek spoke highly of McDaniels’ football intelligence, he criticized the former New England Patriots offensive coordinator’s power-hungry nature. According to Carr, McDaniels had a hard time asserting himself in New England, as Tom Brady was the one running the show.

Carr explained that Brady would often push back against McDaniels’ play-calling, going over his head to Patriots owner Robert Kraft if necessary. Carr believes that this experience has led McDaniels to seek out a quarterback who he can have more control over.

“He’s gonna get a guy who he can, not control, but tell where to throw the ball,” Carr said. “That has some physical tools that can make some plays in the run game, that can push the ball down the field.”

Despite rumors of a deteriorating relationship between Brady and McDaniels during their time in New England, the quarterback has largely backed his former coach. When rumors of their falling out surfaced in 2020, Brady took to Instagram to deny them and urge more responsible reporting.

There were rumors that Brady himself went over the coaching staff’s head to request the trade of backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in 2017. It remains to be seen whether McDaniels will be able to find the kind of quarterback he’s looking for in Las Vegas or elsewhere.

Rumors have circulated that the Raiders could be interested in Patriots quarterbacks Mac Jones and Jimmy Garoppolo in the upcoming offseason, but nothing is set in stone.

In any case, it seems clear that McDaniels’ time in New England has left a lasting impression on him and that he is looking to find a quarterback who will be more receptive to his coaching style. Only time will tell whether he can find the right fit.

While some may see Derek Carr‘s comments as a controversial take on a complex issue, they have certainly sparked debate among fans and experts alike.
