Last season, the San Francisco 49ers were at a loss following the injury of their veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Albeit, Brock Purdy appeared as a savior for the 49ers by leading them to a 7-1 record, after being drafted in the final selection in the 2022 NFL Draft as No. 262 overall pick.
A former player from the league said Brock still has to go a long way and prove himself constantly in the league. Especially after the recent engagement announcement, the players performance may get severely affected.
Will Blackmon 49ers cautions Brock Purdy
During a recent episode of Colin Cowherd’s show ‘The Herd’, former NFL player Will Blackmon cited skepticism regarding Purdy’s continued success on the field. He said the young star will need to showcase more incredible performance in the league to be capable of gaining the buzz as an elite player,
“We need to see it again. That’s how it always is, when somebody does something well, it’s like ‘okay, we need to see it again and give us a full 18 [games]’, let him actually see some legit adversity, we have a full year of film on this guy, let’s see him do it again.”
The veteran player said the 49ers squad has already established themselves as a formidable force in the league before the arrival of the quarterback, hence, he hasn’t gone through many challenges throughout his time in San Francisco,
“Everyone says it’s Kyle [Shanahan] which I will say that’s a big deal with Kyle Shanahan, but also this team has been contending for championships the past five years, they’ve been in the mix. So the culture is already set, the nucleus is already there, everyone around him knows what’s up. So when he took over as quarterback, everyone else raised their level of play. So there was a tonne of help, I’m not taking anything away from but he came into a situation where it’s pretty hard to mess up.”
Purdy announces engagement to Jenna Brandt
San Francisco’s promising quarterback Brock seems to have found the ‘woman of his dreams’ and announced his engagement to Jenna Brandt last week by posting a photo of the proposal by the seaside in Saint Cloud, Florida. The Instagram post was captioned by “My Jenna girl forever. I can’t wait to be your husband and grow together in Christ. Here’s to forever babe. I love you JB!”
Brandt also shared her engagement news in a separate Instagram post, attaching several photos of the duo with the caption, “WE GET TO DO LIFE TOGETHER…FOREVER! Brock Purdy – I love everything about you & your heart for Jesus more than any words can say.”
The year had been phenomenal for the star. The 23-year-old quarterback turned heads last season with his incredible 13 touchdowns, four interceptions, and 1,374 yards throughout his nine games before suffering an injury in the NFC Championship game against the Eagles in January.
With Purdy heading to his second NFL season, many fans will be waiting to see if he can continue the earlier form and lead San Francisco to an upward trajectory.
