Following smooth LAFC victory, Inter Miami’s winning run since Lionel Messi’s arrival to possibly shatter another MLS record

Lionel Messi continues to dazzle in the pink of Inter Miami as he helped his team win another game in Major League Soccer. The Argentine has been unstoppable for his new team ever since making his debut against Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup.

Since then, the team has become one of the best in MLS. Going from a team that barely had any wins, Inter Miami became undefeated since Messi integrated into the team. They have also won their first-ever trophy in the Leagues Cup, and have already reached another final in the US Open Cup. And now, Messi could help Inter Miami break another record.

Inter Miami defeats LAFC thanks to Lionel Messi

Yesterday, Inter Miami and Lionel Messi faced the reigning MLS champions Los Angeles Football Club in their stadium. A great number of celebrities came to witness the game, including stars like Will Ferrell, Leonardo DiCaprio, Selena Gomez, and Tyga among many others.

The game was in Miami’s favor right from the start when Facundo Farias scored in the 14th minute. It was then that Messi stepped up to help his team like many other occasions. Together with Sergio Busquets, he combined to assist Jordi Alba’s goal to double their lead, a moment often seen during their days together in Barcelona.

He then had another assist when Leonardo Campana scored their third in the 83rd minute. LAFC did get a consolation goal through Ryan Hollingshead in the 90th minute. Messi did have a chance to score, but LAFC keeper John McCarthy managed to save it. Despite this, the game ended 3-1, with Messi having two more assists to add to his growing record.

Messi now has 11 goals and 5 assists in just 11 games and has been pivotal in helping to revitalize his new team.

Inter Miami to possibly beat FC Cincinnati’s undefeated streak this season

Since Messi came into the team, Inter Miami have been on a different form. The David Beckham-owned team regularly lost games and was even languishing in last place in the MLS Eastern Conference.

But, in the 11 games since Messi’s arrival, they have won almost all their games, and have not lost a single match. According to OptaJack, in the current season, the only MLS team with a better record was FC Cincinnati who were unbeaten in 14 straight games in all competitions between April and June.

If Messi can help Miami stay unbeaten for four more games, they could become the new record holders of the team with the best unbeaten streak. It will definitely be an upgrade from their previous miserable form and be proof of the impact Messi has had on his new team.

Inter Miami will next take on Sporting KC in the MLS on September 10, as they continue to build on their recent winning run. Will they be able to beat Cincinnati’s record? Leave your predictions with us in the comments.
