“He’s untouchable and not on the market”: Bayern Munich board not interested to sell Joshua Kimmich amid transfer rumors to Barcelona

FC Barcelona have reportedly set their sights on Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich, after rumors surfaced that the German midfielder wants to explore new options.

The 28-year-old has established himself as one of the best soccer players on the planet. However, along with his teammates, Kimmich went through a frustrating 2022-23 season after the Bavarians got knocked out of the Champions League and the DFB Pokal. They are at the top of the Bundesliga table. However, Borussia Dortmund are breathing down their necks, being just 1 point behind.

Joshua Kimmich

The Germany international has a little over two years left on his current deal, but he is reportedly considering looking elsewhere during the summer transfer window.

Several teams, including Manchester City, are reportedly interested in signing Kimmich, but the player ultimately has his sights set on moving to Barcelona this season, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

According to the report, Kimmich was dissatisfied with the firing of Julian Nagelsmann as head coach and with the “tense atmosphere” in the Bayern locker room. He is close friends with Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Robert Lewandowski, both of whom play for Barcelona, and Barcelona manager, Xavi, is actively trying to sign him.

La Liga champions Barcelona are looking to “strengthen the defense, the midfield, and the attack” in the upcoming market, and according to president Joan Laporta, that includes pursuing Joshua as a potential midfielder for the upcoming season.

However, Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano has shed light on the future of the German, saying that Bayern Munich will not be listening to any bids made for Joshua Kimmich this summer, as he is a “crucial player for the club’s project.”

Joshua Kimmich is in the core of Bayern Munich’s plan

On and off the field, Joshua Kimmich is a leader who exemplifies the unyielding spirit and dedication that characterize Bayern Munich. With Bayern Munich, Joshua has won seven consecutive Bundesliga titles, and is on the verge of winning the eighth one.

In addition, he has won the DFB Pokal in 2015-16, 2018-19, and 2019-20, along with the Champions League in 2019-20. He also won the German Player of the Year in 2020.

Bayern Munich are a team that runs for every title they’re competing in, and if they consider Joshua Kimmich a key player, then it will be difficult for any team in the world to persuade the German away from Bavaria.
