After defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves in an overtime thriller yesterday, the Los Angeles Lakers advanced to the first round of the playoffs.
The Grizzlies went straight to the playoffs as they ended the regular season in second place in the Western Conference. As the second-seeded team, they were to face the winner of the Lakers vs. Timberwolves game, and star Dillon Brooks’ dream came true.
Prior to the game, Dillon expressed his preference of opponent, saying it was quite unique to face the Lakers in the playoffs.

The 27-year-old has been gathering negative attention from the NBA community with his arrogant gestures and swagger moves. In an interview, he said he really wanted to play against LeBron James and co.
“I wouldn’t mind playing LeBron in a 7-game series. The legacy is there. First time back in the playoffs, knock him out right away in the first round,” the guard said. “It’ll test us good. They got good pieces, good players, and that’ll be a good 1st round matchup for us.”

The audacity and ambition might strike you as odd, as nobody in their right mind would like to face the Lakers. In the later stages of the regular season, they really turned the game around to get back in the playoffs after spending all of the season in 13.
Moreover, their recent performance has caused alarming caution for the Grizzlies; the Timberwolves couldn’t hold the 17-time champions off even in overtime. Lebron scored the most last night with 30 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists.
In the three meetings between them this year, the Grizzlies could win only one game despite their fluent performances against others. It will be a high-voltage game for both teams to qualify for the next round.
