Jets’ reportedly eyeing Odell Beckham Jr. as potential addition to bolster WR corps alongside likely Aaron Rodgers acquisition

Amid the Jets and Aaron Rodgers trade rumors, the Gang Greens’ eye on the veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is also buzzing in the NFL world.

Beckham missed the entire 2022 season after being included in the Rams’ squad in their victory over the Bengals in Super Bowl LVI and halfway through last season, the three-time AP MVP attempted to get included in his desired trams, however, he went unsigned. In his 37 games since 2019, the veteran WR has caught 141 passes for 1,891 yards and 12 touchdowns with the Browns and the Rams.

The New York Jets have been aggressive in their pursuit of top-tier talent this offseason as they already included former Packers wideout Allen Lazard, former Chiefs’ weapon Mecole Hardman, and Commanders offensive lineman Wes Schweitzer to their squad.

Is Odell Beckham Jr. really going for the Jets?

According to ESPN, the Jets are “most likely” to include Odell Beckham Jr. on their roster, however, several other teams also didn’t halt back from luring him including the Baltimore Ravens albeit OBJ wants to join the Jets squad to enjoy a potential get together with his friend Rodgers.

“We should very much consider Odell Beckham Jr. still on the table as an option for the New York Jets. In fact, we can go even further to say that both sides would still like to see this done. Financials still in the way of actually finalizing this thing but I still think that Odell Beckham Jr. will wind up with the New York Jets”, ESPN’s Jeff Darlington stated.

Apart from ESPN, SNY reported about Gang Green’s interest in Beckham is “very real”, and CBS Sports NFL Insider also reported the plan of the Jets to keep him in the same boat as A-Rod.

Unsurprisingly, OBJ’s trade would depend heavily on the amount of the deal. The 30-year-old revealed on Twitter that he was offered $4 million after working out for teams to which he didn’t agree, however, he was seeking a contract work around $20 million a year was also not true.

The veteran QB Aaron Rodgers earlier gave the Jets team a wish list featuring wide receivers Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, and Odell Beckham Jr., and tight-end Marcedes Lewis whom he wants in the same squad.

The four-time MVP told high about the Jets’ potential WR last fall to McAfee stating “with a player like that, you’re always hoping there’s a time when you can figure things out and play together.”

If the Jets are able to acquire both Rodgers and Beckham Jr., it would be a major coup for the franchise as with these two dynamic players leading the charge, the team could be on the cusp of a major turnaround.

While there are still many factors to be considered before any deals are finalized, Jets fans are already buzzing with excitement at the prospect of seeing Rodgers and Beckham Jr. in green and white next season.
