Kylian Mbappe adamant to join idol Cristiano Ronaldo’s ex-club Real Madrid, gets axed from PSG’s Japan tour

With every passing day of the transfer window, the poker games between the clubs just keep getting more and more interesting. After the heartbreak in Qatar, the immediate club future of Kylian Mbappe remains uncertain as the French superstar has made his intentions evident to the PSG hierarchy.

After having come close to landing Kylian Mbappe at the Bernabeu for the past few years, it looks like the Los Blancos are going to have another shot at it and are optimistic about it. With being omitted from the club’s pre-season tour, it seems likely that the Frenchman is set to depart from the Parc des Princes.

Kylian Mbappe left out of PSG squad travelling for Japan tour

In 2017, PSG signed Kylian Mbappe from their French rivals AS Monaco for a record transfer fee of $158 million plus $38 million in add-ons, which went on to be the most expensive transfer for a teenager. After a stint of 6 years in Paris, it seems as though PSG’s number 7 set his sights away from Parc des Princes.

The Kylian Mbappe saga has taken yet another interesting turn, as the club has officially made it clear that they want to sell the Les Bleus captain this summer.

The French giants released a list of players travelling for their pre-season campaign to Japan and South Korea and surprisingly the 24-year-old superstar did not feature in that list. During the unveiling of their new manager Luis Enrique, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said (according to talkSPORT): “If he [Mbappe] doesn’t want to sign within two weeks, the door is open.

The club hierarchy’s decision comes after the widespread rumours that the Les Bleus captain has agreed to join Spanish giants Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer.

The transfer saga for the PSG superstar dragged on till the transfer deadline day of the 2021 summer transfer window and the failure to complete the transfer resulted in noticeable cracks in the relationship between PSG and Real Madrid.

Nevertheless, the player himself has reiterated his desire to play for PSG numerous times. During a recent interview, the Frenchman said “I didn’t ask to leave PSG or to join Real Madrid. I just told the club that I won’t activate the option to extend the contract until June 2025. We never discussed a new deal with PSG but I’m happy to stay here next season.

Several reports suggest that the loyalty bonus included in the Frenchman’s contract is the stumbling block for the pursuing clubs to sign him in this transfer window. PSG’s position is daylight clear on their number 7, which is to sign a new deal or he could be available in the market. However, the 24-year-old is unwilling to leave Parc des Princes, making a potential move to Real Madrid as a free agent next summer the most likely scenario at this stage.

There is no denying the fact that Kylian Mbappe is one of the most exciting players in the world of football. However, his contract stand-off with his club raises doubts about his appearance in the upcoming season. Where do you think we will see him play in the upcoming season?
