Kylian Mbappe reportedly set to leave Paris Saint-Germain for Real Madrid in record-breaking €200,000,000 transfer

With the summer transfer window opening in less than one week, Kylian Mbappe, the most expensive player on the transfer market, has made it to the headlines once again. The 24-year-old French sensation has drawn attention from a plethora of European giants; however, he himself seems to be only interested in joining his dream team, Real Madrid.

A few days ago, Mbappe stated that he will be seeing out his current contract with Paris Saint-Germain, and called the media speculation “lies.” However, with the recent developments, it seems like Mbappe is on his way to the Santiago Bernabeu after all.

Kylian Mbappe moving to Real Madrid with €200 million contract

The 24-year-old captain of the French national team shocked PSG’s upper management earlier this week by announcing in writing that he would not be exercising a 12-month extension on his contract and would leave the club as a free agent at the end of the 2023-24 season. The Frenchman’s current contract with PSG runs through 2024, with an additional year’s extension option that must be exercised by July 31.

The most recent rumors have PSG and Real Madrid agreeing to a transfer fee for Mbappe of 250 million euros, which would shatter Neymar’s record. In August of 2017, PSG paid Barcelona 222 million euros to have Neymar transfer to their team.

Apparently, on Wednesday, the owners of PSG and representatives from Real Madrid met, and talks have progressed since then. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and Paris Saint-Germain owner Tamim bin Hamad Al Than have been in contact over the past few hours in an effort to reach a deal for Mbappe.

The initial price tag for Mbappe’s transfer is set at €200 million, with a further €50 million available in performance-based bonuses based on his appearances for Real Madrid, including Mbappe possibly winning the Ballon d’Or.

Kylian Mbappe following Lionel Messi’s alleged Real Madrid advice

After bidding farewell to the Parisian club, seven times Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi has left a word of advice for his former teammate. Messi reportedly told Mbappe to part ways with PSG, as reported by the Spanish news outlet Defensa Central.

According to the news outlet, the 35-year-old said: “I prefer that you go to Barca. But; if you want to go to Madrid, do it, you deserve a real winning project.”

It’s no wonder that Messi prefers to see Mbappe in Barcelona because of his own legacy; however, it seems like he respects Mbappe’s decision to join Barcelona’s arch-rivals. Do you think we will see Mbappe in galactico white next season? Share your thoughts on his transfer in the comments.
