Lionel Messi is now appearing to be closer to staying at Paris Saint Germain. The Argentine was rumored to leave the club when his contract expires this summer.
After winning the 2022 World Cup, numerous reports from France indicated that Messi wanted to leave PSG even after a verbal agreement of staying. It was also rumored he was not liking the power the club gave to fellow teammate Kylian Mbappe and that his friend and ex-Barcelona teammate Neymar Jr may leave the club.
The ex-Barcelona captain was linked with an emotional return to longtime club Barcelona and also with MLS side Inter Miami which is co-owned by David Beckham. Further reports also claim that Saudi clubs are trying to vie for the signature of the player.
However, the 35-year-old has now said he wants to continue to do great things at PSG which hints at staying. In an interview with the club’s official channel, PSGTV, the soccer legend talked about his adaption to French football, “It’s true that I feel very well. The first year, I needed a little time to adapt to Paris for different reasons, but I started this season really differently, with a lot of desire. I feel more comfortable with the club, with the city, with everything that Paris means,”
“And the truth is that I am really enjoying this season. I think my whole life has been like that. About dedication, work, effort, and wanting more every day. I’ve arrived at a new club and I want to win the title with Paris.”

Messi will hope to win PSG their first ever Champions League this season. However, they have to overcome a 1-0 defeat in the first leg of the Round of 16 ties to Bayern Munich. They will now travel to Munich for the second leg on Wednesday night.
