Lonzo Ball’s injury last year probably resulting in missing NBA 2022-23 season entirely

Chicago Bulls made a huge statement last season by bringing in former Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball but his injury in last January may have caused Ball’s entirety of the upcoming season.

Lonzo Ball suffered a meniscus injury in his left knee on January 14 this year. His injury was initially identified as a knee bruise by the Bulls. Lonzo was eventually diagnosed with a torn meniscus, and he underwent surgery to treat the issue on Jan. 28. Ball’s recovery was supposed to take six to eight weeks, but his rehab did not progress as planned.

During the rehab, Ball again felt knee problems after attempting to speed up his rehab in the hopes of returning to the field. Unfortunately, after consulting with the Bulls’ medical team and Ball’s attorneys, the decision was made to shut down his rehabilitation. He then went on to miss the remainder of the last season and also was unavailable this off-season.

What’s the Current Status of Ball’s Injury?

Former Lakers point guard is now set for a second surgery this week following the continued pain in his knees. According to the point guard, he can’t even climb the stairs without feeling pain. The injury slowly started to make his life miserable.

Even though the Bulls have said that Lonzo Ball will be re-evaluated in four to six weeks following his knee procedure this week, a big question mark still lies ahead of the eastern conference team regarding the availability of their point guard in the upcoming season.

“I think you have to.” the Bulls head coach replied when asked if he thinks that Ball might be missing the entire season.

“I feel terrible for him because he loves to play,” In regard to Ball, head coach Billy Donovan had this to say. “He’s a great guy and he worked really hard to get back.”

How Chicago Bulls are going to survive without their star point guard?

At Lonzo Ball’s position, the bulls have Goran Dragic, Alex Caruso, Ayo Dosunmu, and Coby White as alternatives. Also, both DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine are capable of being the primary ball-handlers for The Bulls.

So it’s clear that, In Ball’s absence, the Bulls will have a variety of options in their backcourt, which is good news for them in this horrible predicament.

But the Bulls will certainly face challenges. To survive the season without Ball, they will find it hard to replicate their success of last season. The absence of a player like Ball will always be a major setback for them. Interesting days are ahead of us as we’re all waiting to see how the Bulls proceed.
