Kyren Lacy, a star player for LSU, shined on the field with the most receiving touchdowns and ranked second in catches and yards. He was even invited to play in the 2025 Senior Bowl.
But now, he’s making headlines for a tragic reason—not his game, but an accident in Louisiana where a speeding car he was driving caused a fatality.
Kyren Lacy’s NFL draft plans are now in serious trouble after he was linked to a tragic hit-and-run on December 17. The accident happened on Louisiana Highway 20 near Thibodaux and took the life of a citizen. The Louisiana State Police (LSP) identified Lacy as the driver after an investigation and issued an arrest warrant.
Reports say Lacy was speeding and driving recklessly in a Dodge Charger. He caused a head-on crash involving two other vehicles, a Kia Cadenza and a Kia Sorento. Tragically, Herman Hall, a former Marine, lost his life and two others suffered severe injuries.
LSU WR Kyren Lacy is apparently wanted on charges of negligent homicide and felony hit-and-run. The LSU experience I guess. Coaches who’ve killed kids, stealing from children’s hospitals, and now homicidal hit and runs. Prayers to those killed. pic.twitter.com/Jv1S4iVFi2

According to LSP and WAFB9’s Chris Nakamoto, after the crash, Lacy left the scene without stopping to help, calling for emergency services, or reporting the accident.
Fans respond to Kyren Lacy’s legal trouble
This sad news has gotten many reactions on social media. People feel sorry for the loss and for Kyren Lacy’s family. While some hold him accountable for his carelessness, others express concerns about his NFL future, given his recent start and draft selection. The opinions are very mixed.
@XavierMBrown noted, “He’s wanted, meaning it’s a car connected to him not necessarily that he drove it. Let’s not slander him based on property. Juror #2 is specifically about this.”
