Manchester City to rival Arsenal, Manchester United for Declan Rice signature

Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag is using the summer transfer window to strengthen his squad with big names after qualifying for the Champions League next season. Names such as Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane have been heavily linked to the club in recent times, and now, a player from United’s old interest list, Declan Rice has re-emerged as a potential signing for the upcoming transfer window.

After seeing European success in more than 40 years along with Westham, the 24-year-old England international has received major attention from big Premier League clubs. The Red Devils have apparently rejoined the race to secure the midfielder, after failing to sign him in previous transfer windows.

However, the red devils are not the only side running the show to pen the superstar, their neighbor and current PL champions, Man city and Arsenal have also now joined to tip over them to sign the DM.

West Ham reject Arsenal’s second bid

The second offer from Arsenal for Declan Rice, worth £90 million, was turned down by West Ham. The reported fee of £75m guaranteed plus £15m in add-ons would have been a club record for Arsenal, surpassing the £72m paid to Lille for Nicolas Pepe in 2019. West Ham are optimistic that they will get £100 million for the 24-year-old.

Last week, an initial bid worth £80 million was rejected, and Arsenal are reportedly preparing a third offer.

United join in pursuit for the English midfielder

The Red Devils are closely monitoring Rice’s situation. Whether or not it would be possible to approve a deal has been discussed internally between the two clubs.

Financial Fair Play regulations make it unlikely that United could spend a disproportionate amount of their budget on a single player, especially given that they have other positions to fortify. That is why they are considering a variety of other midfielders. However, if they are successful in selling their players, they will have more money to spend.

Manchester City turn their attention to Rice following Kovacic signing

And now, in the latest news, treble-winning Manchester City are interested in securing the services of Declan Rice as well. With the departure of captain Ilkay Gundogan, who is on the verge of joining FC Barcelona, Pep Guardiola is on the market to reshape the City midfield.

According to reports, Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic to Manchester City deal is all done; and Guardiola has turned his attention towards the England international.
