Pep Guardiola claims him to always be “failure” with Man City due to Julia Roberts choosing Old Trafford over Etihad Stadium

Man City came into Tuesday’s 2nd leg round of 16 clash of the UEFA Champions League in a bit of a precarious situation with no real advantage due to away goals being taken away from UEFA club competitions. They drew 1-1 in the first leg away at RB Leipzig. However, all doubts were absolutely thrown out the window as Pep Guardiola’s men smashed Leipzig 7-0 at the Etihad.

In a strange interview, Guardiola revealed that he will still consider himself a failure even if he were to lead City to three Champions League titles in a row. Even though the Spanish manager was in a great mood after his side’s immense performance but has made this weird claim.

Guardiola made some strange comments after the Leipzig game

Why is Pep Guardiola making these claims?

Guardiola revealed his outlandish claims were motivated by American actress Julia Roberts not watching a single Manchester City game when she visited England in 2016, instead choosing to watch a game between Manchester United and West Ham. Man Utd was managed by Jose Mourinho at the time and they drew the game 1-1.

How did City’s Champions League tie play out?

City produced a dominating display against Leipzig. While all City players were a class above their Leipzig counterparts on the night, their number 9 Erling Haaland deserves special mention as the Norwegian striker scored 5 goals past the German outfit. He even managed to do that only in the span of 35 minutes from his first goal, which was a controversial penalty.

City is yet to win their maiden Champions League despite playing for so many years and even Pep’s own last Champions League triumph came in 2011 as his seemingly ‘all-conquering’ Barcelona defeated Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United at Wembley.

After Tuesday’s performance, City will certainly be among the favorites to win it this year with their superstar striker Erling Haaland spearheading them. Haaland has scored 38 goals in 32 games for Manchester City in the 2022/23 season. He is also the top scorer in the Champions League with 10 goals.

Do you think Guardiola’s football will tempt Julia Roberts to switch her allegiance to the blue half of Manchester?  Will Haaland smash all goal-scoring records? Is City going to finally win the Champions League? Comment down below.
