Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti hails Vinicius Junior as “best player in the world” after thumping win over Liverpool in UCL

When talking about the player rankings in football, names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and, Kilian Embappe come to mind. But after an amazing performance against Liverpool, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti ended up labeling Vinicius Junior as the “best player in the world”

In the first leg of the tie, Liverpool scored 2 goals early in the first half. But then Real Madrid scored 5 goals unanswered to seal a famous victory at Anfield. That result effectively sealed the tie for Madrid. Vinicius Junior got two goals in the win.

In the 2nd leg, it was a close-run affair but Benzema scored the winner from Vinicius’ assist in the 78th minute to make the score 6-2 on aggregate for Madrid. Liverpool has been in poor form this season but by both teams’ standards, this was a very surprising scoreline.

Ancelotti has come out and said that “For me, Vinicius Junior is the best player in the world”. Vinicius has been scintillating this season with 19 goals and 10 assists.

Why was Vinicius praised by Carlo Ancelotti?

As mentioned, Vinicius has been in amazing form for the last two years. His goal was the one that sealed last year’s final which also happened to be against Liverpool.

Vinicius’ stock has been on the rise since signing for Madrid from Fluminese. He is considered one of the best wingers in the world, known for his dribbling skills, high pace, and playmaking. He is only 22 years old and his height is 1.76 m.

Ancelotti added that Vinicius Jr is a young talent who works hard and has a lot of potential. Vinicius is part of the Brazilian set-up as well and he was part of the Brazil squad that went to the 2022 World Cup. Brazil made another disappointing exit as they lost on penalties to the eventual 3rd-placed team Croatia.

However, Ancelotti also mentioned that Vinicius Jr deserves more respect from opponents and fans who have targeted him with harsh tackles and racist abuse. He also said that Vinicius Jr is a victim of something he does not understand and that it must be solved.

The season is yet to be finished and there is a long way to go. Madrid is 8 points behind Barcelona in La Liga. However, they are among the favorites to win this year’s Champions League and hence retain it. Is Vinicius really the best in the World? Will Vinicius lead Madrid to another Champions League? Leave your thoughts down in the comments.
