WWE fans have been waiting for the return of Randy Orton aka The Viper for a long time now. He has been sidelined with injury for an extended period of time, last competing on Friday Night SmackDown in May 2022.
There were a lot of rumors online regarding this lately, with many believing that the superstar is ready for a comeback. However, it looks like the fans will have to wait a bit longer than they expected as per recent reports.
Randy Orton still not medically clear for an in-ring return
According to a new report from Fightful Select, Randy Orton is not currently being included in WWE plans and the star is not medically cleared yet. However, it was mentioned that The Viper is determined to make a return to the ring.
Fightful Select reports that Randy Orton’s doctors have advised him to not return to the ring for now. Orton’s injury was treated by lower back fusion surgery which is a very complex surgery and it takes a huge toll on the body of the patient. Not many professional wrestlers have gone through such complex surgery.

Fightful added further that despite these warnings, The Viper wants to get back into WWE Universe and he has been working out regularly in the meantime. However, It should be noted that Orton has not begun any practice inside the ropes.
The expected return time for Orton remains unclear
Wrestling fans around the world have been waiting to see the Viper make a return to the ring for one and a half years now. Since his last major injury at SmackDown. Randy Orton’s in-ring future is in question. However, mixed reports kept leading to mass confusion among fans. As per earlier speculations, Randy Orton was set to make an appearance at Money in the Bank 2023. However, the event ended without The Viper making an appearance. This had fans sad who were waiting for the superstar to make an appearance that night.
After his absence from Money in the Bank, speculations of a possible appearance at Summerslam 2023 were circulating. The WWE Universe has been excited since the news, to see Randy Orton resume his wrestling career. However, a recent report from Fightful Select has turned the speculation to dust. There is no clear report on when the superstar is going to make a comeback to the ring. Let’s hope to see him soon.
