“Roman Reigns was the son he always wanted” Paul Heyman makes it personal for Cody Rhodes on WWE Raw ahead of WrestleMania 39

Cody Rhodes is back in all his glory as he went on to win the men’s, Royal Rumble by defeating Gunther. Of course, fans were celebrating and that was the exact time when Paul Heyman decided to enter the scene. What happened next was an emotional roller coaster that ended with a harsh insult.

The February 6th episode of Monday Night Raw show saw Cody Rhodes back in the ring to talk about the WrestleMania 39 match where is scheduled to fight Roman Reigns. The recent Royal Rumble winner accepted that he had a fairly simple road, but didn’t forget to mention how difficult it would be for the ‘Tribal Cheif’ as he will face Sami Zayn next.

Cody sent his wishes to Sami for the ‘Elimination chamber’ match saying “may the best man win.” This is the point when Roman Reigns’s manager Paul Heyman finally appeared on the scene. Paul said his usual lines, congratulated the new Royal Rumble champion, and initiated a conversation that was probably not going to end in a nice manner.

Cody showed respect and appreciation by calling him “Mr. Heyman” even though his father and brother had different nicknames in store. This of course wasn’t the end and the returning star began to talk about some of the events that took place in the past. All the way back in 2000, the Rhodes family was broke and Dusty was doing car commercials just so he could keep the car.

This is a memorable point for Cody as his struggling father received a call from Paul who offered him a good load of money to appear for the ECW. Cody’s kind words sent tears down the eyes of the Roman Reigns manager and he took a moment to get it together. Then he remembered some memories involving Dusty and dropped the bombshell, “Roman Reigns was the son he always wanted”

Cody Rhodes will take on Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39.
