Why Mercedes Mone didn’t join AEW?

Mercedes Mone, joined New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) in January 2023. She made her debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17, where she confronted Kairi, the current IWGP Women’s Champion and she is currently signed with NJPW.

Meltzer believes that AEW may be waiting for Mone to recover from her ankle injury before pushing her as a top star in the company. Mone suffered the injury in May at NJPW STRONG Resurgence and has been sidelined ever since. Mone is one of the most popular and accomplished female wrestlers in the world, and AEW is reportedly very interested in signing her.

However, Meltzer believes that the company is hesitant to put her in a prominent role until she is fully fit. AEW has signed a number of high-profile WWE wrestlers in recent years, including Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, and Adam Cole. These wrestlers have helped AEW grow its audience and become a major competitor to WWE. If Mone joins AEW, it will be a huge addition to the AEW roster.
