Throwback: Derrick Ward once allegedly profited from scamming multiple friends back in 2017

Derrick Ward, a former football player who won the Super Bowl with the New York Giants in 2008, recently got into serious legal trouble. He was arrested in Los Angeles for allegedly robbing local businesses, like gas stations.

However, this isn’t the first time he’s been in trouble. Back in 2017, his friends accused him of scamming them. It’s a significant fall for Ward, going from being a Super Bowl champion to facing legal problems and accusations.

Derrick Ward profited from scamming multiple friends

Derrick Ward is accused of profiting from scamming multiple friends back in 2017. Despite having a successful career and earning millions during his NFL tenure, the former RB allegedly engaged in deceptive practices with friends.

One of Ward’s friends, Devon Glover, publicly called him out for owing $125.

This public revelation triggered additional friends to share similar experiences of being scammed by the former RB. Several other friends shared their stories of falling victim to Ward’s alleged scam.

Ward is reported to have scammed friends for relatively small amounts of money. When confronted by friends to repay, he allegedly responded by blocking them on social media.

Blocking friends on social media after being confronted adds a layer of avoidance and potential evasion, suggesting a reluctance to address the allegations.

The former RB never addressed this matter, which makes it more intriguing and now that he has been accused of another scam, Ward’s involvement in the scam in 2017 sounds more true now.

What are Derrick Ward’s NFL career earnings & net worth in 2023?

Derrick Ward was one of the richest football RBs. Currently, his net worth is approximately $5 million. He earned over $11 million in salary during his NFL career and earned a net worth of $3.5 million. He played in the NFL for the Giants, who tried to lure Gronk back, Bucs, and the Texans from 2005 to 2011.

His most remarkable seasons were in 2007 and 2008. In 2007, he had 602 rushing yards, an average of 4.8 yards per carry, and three touchdowns. He played a key role in a December 21, 2008 game, leading the Giants’ rushing attack with 215 yards and contributing to clinching a home-field advantage for the 2009 NFL Playoffs.

Ward finished the 2008 season with 1,025 rushing yards, becoming one of the fifth pair of teammates to rush for 1,000 yards in a single season, and then retired from the NFL in 2012. After retirement, the former RB started his career in acting and production.

Despite being part of a championship-winning team, Derrick Ward is now facing personal challenges, including financial problems, especially because of his legal issues which have marked a significant transition for the former RB.
