USA U20 captain Daniel Edelman attracting interest from European giants following stellar displays throughout FIFA U20 World Cup

USA U20 soccer team captain Daniel Edelman has garnered interest from several clubs in Europe, after the youngster’s sublime performances in the FIFA U20 World Cup.

Daniel Edelman continues to draw European eyes in FIFA U20 WC

The ongoing U20 World Cup in Argentina seems to be a stage set for the 20-year-old American midfielder to prove his talent.

After spending time in the New York Red Bulls’ youth program, Edelman made his professional debut in February 2022. So far this season, he has made 10 appearances across all competitions for New York Red Bulls and has tallied one assist.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano seems to particularly take note of Edelman’s emergence. Romano posted on his Twitter: “USA U20 captain, New York Red Bulls midfielder Daniel Edelman is on the list of clubs in Belgium, Holland, and Israel. He’s been monitored during the World Cup U20 and could be on the move soon.”

RB Leipzig can be potential landing spot due to Red Bull ties

German heavyweight team RB Leipzig has strong ties with Edelman’s current club, the New York Red Bulls, thanks to both clubs being part of the City Football Group under Red Bull’s ownership. Previously, Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams made a switch from the NY Red Bulls to RB Leipzig in 2019, so such a move for Daniel Edelman can’t be ruled out either.

USA to face Uruguay in U20 WC quarterfinals on Sunday

So far in the ongoing U20 World Cup, Daniel Edelman has played in all four of his team’s matches and started three of them. After cruising through their group with a perfect 4-0 record, the USYNT advanced to the round of 16.

The USA U20 team then went on to dominate New Zealand U-20 by 4-0 on Tuesday, advancing to the quarterfinals of the tournament, where they will be facing a strong Uruguay side on Sunday.
