Which NFL QBs are to be featured in ‘Quarterback’? exploring Patrick Mahomes’ Netflix documentary

Netflix is continuing its experiment to bring sports into the entertainment industry following the introduction of sports docu-series like Formula 1: Drive to Survive, Break Point, and Full Swing. ‘Drive to Survive’ premiered in 2019 and has been extended to a fifth season. Break Point and Full Swing debuted this year.

The streaming platform decided to grace football lovers’ hearts by announcing the ‘Quarterback‘ docu-series, marking the first partnership between the national football league and Netflix. Three of the elite quarterbacks of the league wore a microphone for every game of the 2022 season for the series.

Which NFL QBs are to be featured in ‘Quarterback’?

The ‘Quarterback’ series will feature the Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes, the Minnesota Vikings Kirk Cousins, and the Philadelphia Eagles Marcus Mariota. They were filmed at home as well as during games for the series.

Netflix said the league had given the opportunity to let the QBs be mic’d up for every single game of a season for the first in its history and detailed out what is going to be featured in the ‘Quarterback’.\,

Mahomes set an NFL record for total offense on his way to winning the league and Super Bowl MVP awards; Cousins engineered the greatest comeback in NFL history and led the Minnesota Vikings to an NFC North Division title; and Mariota took over as the starting quarterback in his first season with the Atlanta Falcons.”

Pat just earned his second MVP title after leading the Chiefs to their second Super Bowl victory in the last four seasons. Cousins made his fourth Pro Bowl appearance and led the Vikings to a 13–4 record. Mariota threw for 2,219 yards and 15 touchdowns to nine interceptions for the Atlanta Falcons last season, albeit he was later released by the franchise and joined Philly.

‘Quarterback’ will be available on Netflix on July 12 and they usually release their docu-series around 3 am ET/12 am. There will be eight episodes in the first season and reportedly each episode will be about 45 minutes in length.

The trailer for the series was released in June that touched on the challenges of being a quarterback in the NFL and highlighted how an injury to the QB of a team can turn a potential season against them.

Mahomes’ company ‘2PM Productions’ would assist the series and he expressed excitement to let the fans know about all the backstories behind the Chiefs’ recent Super Bowl title as well as his family moments,

“I’m excited for fans to get an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at an unforgettable season for the entire Chiefs organization and for my family. From welcoming home a new baby in the middle of the season to welcoming the Lombardi Trophy back to Kansas City, our crew was there for it all. This new Netflix series will show the time, preparation, and balance that it takes to be an NFL quarterback and perform on the biggest stage.”

Former quarterback Peyton Manning’s ‘Omaha Productions’ was also involved in the production of the series and he said it will provide “a unique and intimate look at what life is like as a starting QB.”
