Who is Federico Redondo, joining Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami?

Inter Miami has been signing stars from Europe to build a team that is not easy to defeat. Even though David Beckham’s team is not in great form currently, they have actually assembled a mini-Barcelona with Lionel Messi, who is involved in a recent Hong Kong controversy, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquests and new-signing Luis Suarez already at the helm.

In the last few weeks, the team was almost on the verge of signing another Argentine youngster, Federico Redondo, who could help the squad bring some talented fresh legs into the team and recent news might be a good one for the Miami fanbase.

Who is Federico Redondo?

Federico Redondo, born on January 18, 2003, is an Argentine defensive midfielder who used to play for Argentina Premera Division club Argentinos Junior. The player signed for the Argentine club on December 17, 2021 for a 2-year contract.

The 21-year-old player has played for Argentina U20s at the international level and has been performing well for both his club and country. The player has played 58 domestic matches, in which he has scored 2 goals and assisted one. The numbers are just fantastic for a young defensive midfielder, due to which many European clubs, including the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Liverpool, are interested in him.

The player was linked with a move to Messi’s Inter Miami but unfortunately, the player’s father was a Real Madrid player and legend, which made the signing a bit tricky considering the rivalry Lionel Messi had against Real Madrid when he was at Barcelona.

Real Madrid legend’s son to join Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami

Son of Fernando Redondo, a former Real Madrid legend, Federico Redonod was surprisingly linked to Messi’s Inter Miami but for every fan, the chances of a possible transfer looked slim.

But recent reports might shock the fans and excite them at the same time, as sources have come out stating the transfer is almost done. A few hours ago, Fabrizio Romano came out with his typical “Here we go!” phrase for the Argentine’s starboy move to Inter Miami.

The reputed journalist tweeted on X that the deal was sealed between Argentinos Juniors and Inter Miami for an 8 million Euro package for the Argentine after days of verbal agreement. The deal also includes a 15% sell-on clause in case Miami decides to cash in on him in the future. The deal meant that the former Real Madrid legend’s son could play alongside Lionel Messi at both domestic and international levels.

This signing could be a great one for the team, as the squad desperately lacked youth talent, which they could nurture under the experience and leadership of former Barcelona stars.

Despite having one of the best players in the team, Inter Miami hasn’t been doing well at all, as they recently lost the Riyadh Cup friendlies against Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal, sending both of the Saudi clubs to the final, which got a shocking intervention by the appearance of Undertaker. The squad was in desperate need of young talent, and manager Tata Martino has deservedly gotten one.
