Why is Vikings’ Justin Jefferson the best WR in the NFL? Exploring League’s top-ranked wide receivers

In a survey conducted by ESPN, Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings received the most votes and was placed as the best wide receiver in the league. The survey was multidimensional and took in the views of players, coaches, NFL executives, as well as scouts.

In the top ten list, there were a few other superstars of the league, including Devante Adams (2nd), Ja’Marr Chase (3rd), and Tyreek Hill (4th). Jefferson was ranked 4th last year but his ability to excel on the field pushed his rank up.

In just over 3 seasons the wide receiver from Minnesota has achieved more than many players in the NFL. He has won the 2022 Offensive Player of the Year, was the MVP finalist in the same year, and is a three-time pro bowler. He also has a dozen records in his name including the most receiving yards by a player in three seasons combined. On top of all that, Justin was also awarded the Moment of the Year award in 2022 for his spectacular catch against the Bills.

In an interview, an NFL executive told ESPN that “You can put him in all 32 offenses, and he will produce and fit in seamlessly,” Considering he is just 24 and has a whole career ahead of him we will be seeing more spectacular plays by this young wide receiver in the future.

Although the list of top ten wide receivers has some amazing names, Justin Jefferson has surely lived up to his reputation by giving the best performance game after game. The only games where Justin was not proving to be a headache for the opposite team were where he was double or triple D. The Vikings wide receiver has surely proved himself time and again, and the ESPN panel has surely made justice to him by giving him the top spot.

What is Justin Jefferson’s contract with the Vikings?

The Vikings superstar entered into a 4-year rookie deal with the franchise with a massive package of $13.12 million along with a huge signing bonus of $7.1 million. He is going to be available in the market in 2024 and the Minnesota is surely going to extend his contract. The wide receiver is said to be making almost $3,500 for every minute he is on the field.

He can soon become the most expensive wide receiver in the history of the league, surpassing Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill’s $30 Million average salary. But, whether Jefferson will continue to be a part of the Vikings is another story altogether. He has expressed his feelings regarding the structure of his deal and has said that his future with Minnesota will depend upon the quarterback they bring.
