Wolves vs Manchester United: Will Andre Onana start at Molineux?

Manchester United face Wolverhampton Wanderers tonight in Match Week 22 of the Premier League at the Molineux. The match will also see Manchester United field their new goalkeeper, Andre Onana, who has had a torrid season at The Theatre of Dreams ever since he moved to the Premier League from the Seria A, as he and United have already conceded 29 goals in the league.

Onana’s debut Champions League campaign has been even more embarrassing, as United let in a record 15 goals in the group stage, and Onana made several individual errors, most notably against Galatasaray.

Will Andre Onana play for Manchester United against Wolves?

Erik Ten Hag has given further updates on his squad as he confirmed that Andre Onana will be back to start against Wolves, against whom he made his Premier League debut. Onana’s return to the team sheet will see Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir move back to the bench. Bayindir has made just one appearance this season, which came in United’s 4-2 victory over Newport County.

Onana last featured for Manchester United in a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur before leaving to represent Cameroon in the AFCON. Onana’s form for Cameroon has been no better than at United, as he was picked only once in the group stage before being left on the bench owing to clashes with Samuel Eto’o, President of Cameroon’s football federation. Samuel Eto’o is currently facing charges of match-fixing, physical threats, and inciting violence. Following this incident, Onana has threatened to quit international football again.

Manchester United get boost from injury returns

Manchester United will also receive major boosts as Dutch fullback Tyrell Malacia and ex-Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount are also set to return, following the returns of Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, and Casemiro. United had suffered a total of 29 injuries by December this season.

“Also, they know that, with players coming back and returning from injury, from long-term injuries, the team will be stronger. Also, that helps the motivation, and it helps the mood and the spirit in the team. We know that, at our best, we can beat anyone and everyone in the squad is very convinced about this,” Ten Hag said.
