WWE Smackdown’s introduction of superstar Bray Wyatt fails to garner TV audience

Windham Lawrence Rotunda, the American wrestler known as Bray Wyatt, currently performs on the Smackdown brand of WWE. He was released from the WWE after his 12-year tenure with the company.

WWE has been teasing fans with hints about the superstar’s return to the brand since last month. Finally, after the fight pit matchup of Matt Riddle vs. Seth Rollins, the main event of the extreme rules event on October 8th, 2022, Wyatt briefly showed up and confirmed his return.

Fans speculated about various things, but last Friday, the 35-year-old made an emotional return to the Smackdown brand as well. As speculated, after last Week’s teasing entry at WWE Extreme Rules, he had changed “the fiend” character and returned to the ring in a different way. While sharing his bad time stories after WWE’s release, Wyatt cordially thanked the fans for their support.

“I lost my career. I lost my self-confidence. I lost two people who were very, very close to me. I lost my way. And I got to a point where I thought that everything that I’ve ever done here or otherwise, it was all meaningless. Nothing I’ve ever done has ever mattered to anyone. And I was wrong.”

While referring to this return as the more genuine return of his career, he also added:

“I’m incredibly grateful. I’m really, really nervous to be here. I never thought this would happen. This right here, this is just me OK? This is a version of me I never got to introduce to you guys before. This is just me being me, genuine me, for the first time.”

But the return didn’t impact a significant amount of viewership of the WWE brand. 2.27 million viewers watched the comeback show, which was only 1% higher than the previous week’s shows, but this statistics has nothing to do with the popularity of the superstar as on the same night there was a Major League Baseball match between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers, which grabbed the highest audience of 4 million.

After a long 15-month wait, Bray Wyatt gets the opportunity to return to the wrestling ring. Fans are hoping that he will keep them entertained as he did previously.
