Following the successful completion of Luis Suarez’s deal, Inter Miami officially reunited the Barcelona quartet of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and now Suarez. With Suarez’s transfer now finalized, fans worldwide are eagerly anticipating the former Barcelona superstar’s debut for the Miami-based club.
As he pairs up with Messi in the USA, Suarez now has a chance to live his dream of retiring along with his best friend, and put up more numbers for his strike partnership with the Argentine. Suarez will be hoping to be fit and will be gearing up to start the new Major League Soccer season for Inter Miami as fans wait for his debut.
When does Luís Suárez play his debut match for Inter Miami?
Inter Miami secured the services of Luis Suarez from Gremio on a one-year deal, making him the fourth Barcelona player to join the club. Suarez led Gremio to victory in both the Campeonato Gaucho and Recopa Gaucha and was awarded the Brazilian league’s Best Player and Best Striker for his 26 goals and 17 assists in 53 matches.
On making the signing official, club co-owner David Beckham stated, “We are delighted to have a player of Luis’ quality and passion for the game join our Club. He joins a squad that is inspiring the next generation and we look forward to seeing him take to the field with both former teammates and young players from our academy.”
With all documentation and complications fulfilled, Suarez just needs to remain fit until February, when Inter Miami kick off their season off against Real Salt Lake on February 21st. However, Suarez might be seen in the pink shirt before MLS starts, when Inter Miami play their pre-season games against Al Hilal, Al Nassr, Vissel Kobe, and Newells Old Boys.
What is Luís Suárez’s contract with Inter Miami?
Luis Suarez unites with his best friend Messi, who is also the greatest ever striker in Suarez’s list, as he puts pen to paper for a very lucrative deal tabled by Inter Miami. Suarez seems to have cracked a very good deal, as he’d be printing a lot of bills while staying in a country like the US and would also have his close friends alongside him.
Suarez has signed a one-year contract with an optional clause for an additional year, valid until 2025. However, Suárez’s agreement details haven’t been made public yet, with sources reporting the income figure to be around $10 million, including all the bonuses. The Uruguayan’s base salary could be approximately $1.7 million, which is similar to Busquets’ deal from the summer.
Reports also claim that Suárez might replace Josef Martínez as a designated player, earning $4 million each season and an additional $4 million in guaranteed compensation, totaling his earnings to around $8 million. In 2023, MLS established a basic salary upper limit of €5.2 million and added $1.9 million in general allocation money.
