Former LA Clippers point guard John Wall has been one of the best talents the NBA has seen in recent years. But unfortunately, his injuries have kept him out of the game since 2023 and he has yet to make a comeback.
Wall had an incredible start to his NBA career with the Wizards. He finished as the runner-up for rookie of the year and was also a five-time NBA All-Star from 2014 to 2018. But his career and body both deteriorated after he suffered a major heel injury in 2018.
John Wall opens up about his attempted suicide
It is not the first time the former All Star has talked about his mental health issues. Back in 2022, John Wall opened up about his mental health struggles. On the OGs Show with co-hosts and former NBA stars Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller, he said that his two kids are the only reason he didn’t end his life and he did not want to fail as a father.
Wall also admitted that dealing with his work stress by partying wasn’t the right way. Wall then added, “I released a video in which I was seen hurling gang signs and other similar objects. At that point, I was going through my lowest point and was trying to figure out how to be happy.”
John Wall open to helping Miami Heat
Wall was earlier rumored to go to Armani Milan after the news of his injury came out in 2023. But now the former All-Star wants to join the Miami Heat. He says he could be a valuable asset to the Heat due to his style of play and the experience he holds in the league.
Wall said, “Getting Terry Rozier was a good piece for the Heat. Somebody that could make plays in the pick and roll and stuff. But even if I didn’t start coming off the bench, I think I could be another person to help them and impact them.”
“One thousand percent. I talk about that all the time. You know what I mean? Just feel like I can help them a lot,” Wall expressed his desires to join Miami Heat. Wall also has a good relationship with Udonis Haslem, who is currently the Vice President of Basketball Development for the Miami Heat and Bam Adebayo.
Considering his experience and talent, the Miami Heat could actually consider signing Wall in the offseason, who is currently a free agent after his debacle with the Houston Rocket, if he overcomes his battles with his mental and physical health.
Wall’s last season with the Los Angeles Clippers was during the 2022–23 season, where he averaged 11.4 points on 40.8 percent shooting (30.3 percent from three) and 5.2 assists in 22.2 minutes per game, which goes on to show that he has proven his worth whenever he is given the chance to play.
After his time with the Los Angeles Clippers, Wall was traded again to the Houston Rockets in a three-team trade in February 2023, which also included the Memphis Grizzlies. He was waived three games later and has not returned since. Wall’s relationship with the Rockets has not been so good, as he has openly criticized Rockets and their management.
Even though Wall might not be in his prime, he can still be a valuable player like Russell Westbrook is for the Clippers. Most of the fans and pundits might have written him off but even they know that his stats show how good he is and being a veteran of the game, he still has a lot to offer.
