Aaron Rodgers, Jets HC Robert Saleh denies interest in DeAndre Hopkins focusing on current roster

The New York Jets seem to be enjoying their honeymoon period after successfully tying the knot with the former Green Bay Packers four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers through a standstill trade saga for a couple of days.

Just a day ago, football fans and pundits were scratching their heads to find a connection between Aaron’s new in-laws and the former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver as he shared a photo of a television screen in his gym in his recent Instagram story, with the ex-Packer’s QB’s team’s logo displayed in the bottom left corner.

However, Gang Green’s coach Robert Saleh didn’t let the rumor flourish and poured cold water over the speculations.

Robert Saleh weighs in on DeAndre Hopkins

The five-time Pro Bowler D-Hop is currently a free agent after being released by the Cardinals a few days ago and many teams have been eyeing him since then, however, the Jets coach Robert Saleh made it loud and clear that his team isn’t vying for the wide receiver’s service, stating he is happy with the current squad.

“We love our current group (of wide receivers),” said the coach.

However, Robert addressed having an interest in the veteran star Odell Beckham Jr. before he was acquired by the Baltimore Ravens earlier this offseason,

“I know there was some stuff (interest) with Odell (Beckham Jr.). Other than that, we love our group.”

Saleh’s opinion on current roster

After shutting down rumors of picking the Cardinals’ former star, Saleh cited optimism about his students and gushed about their caliber.

The HC had high praises for the current wide receiver Garrett Wilson who moonlight as a hero in his rookie period with 83 catches alongside 1,103 receiving yards and he believes Wilson’s performance will match his bar of expectations this year.

“He’s a juicy route runner. He’s gotten a lot stronger. And his mental make-up, his internal drive, is second to none. I’m excited for him this year.”

New York also added Rodgers‘ former teammate from Green Bay, Randall Cobb, and Robert believes the 32-year-old athlete can still play the game at a high level.

The promising QB Allen Lazard’s current squad including Garrett, Mecole Hardman, Corey Davis, Randall Cobb, and Denzel Mims is already a big threat to other teams, hence, the HC’s determination to focus on the teams’ current rosters in the upcoming season is not quite surprising.

Do you think that the Jets should approach the former Cardinals’ electrifying wide receiver? Or do you think that the present squad will be enough with the former All-Pro athlete?
